5-Year-Old's Death Prompts Charges Against Parents Near Pawleys Island, SC
The parents of 5-year-old Saylor Hayes, who had autism, were arrested in Tennessee on charges of unlawfully placing a child at risk or willfully abandoning a child after Saylor's body was found in the waters near Hagley Landing on Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Investigators say the couple removed Saylor's Project Lifesaver transmitter, failed to supervise appropriately, and directed search efforts away from the water; extradition back to Georgetown County will follow.
