German cybersecurity researchers have discovered a vulnerability on the website of auction house Christie's that exposed the exact location of uploaded artwork photos, including GPS coordinates, to anyone who accessed the site. The researchers found that around 10% of the uploaded images contained precise GPS coordinates, revealing not just the street address but also the specific location within a building. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) had previously warned about such vulnerabilities. Christie's, which declined to confirm the findings, appears to have taken steps to address the issue after being contacted by the researchers. It is unclear if the company has informed affected clients about the security lapse.
