Google's Gemini Falls Short of GPT-3.5 Turbo, Researchers Discover
Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and BerriAI have found that Google's new language model, Gemini Pro, performs worse than OpenAI's GPT-3.5 Turbo in most tasks. The study compared Gemini Pro to several other models, including GPT-4 Turbo and Mixtral 8x7B. While Gemini Pro outperformed Mixtral, it fell behind GPT-3.5 Turbo and GPT-4 Turbo. Google claims that Gemini Pro performs better than GPT-3.5, and an even more powerful version, Gemini Ultra, is set to be released in early 2024. However, the study suggests that OpenAI is still the leader in generative AI for now.
