NY Attorney General files lawsuit against gun manufacturer over device linked to Buffalo shooting.
New York Attorney General Letitia James has filed a civil lawsuit against Mean Arms, a Georgia-based gun accessory company, for aiding and abetting in the racially-motivated Buffalo grocery store massacre that killed 10 Black people in May 2022. The lawsuit alleges that the company falsely advertised its device, known as an MA Lock, as making the weapon legal in New York, but also contained instructions on how to remove the lock, thereby aiding the shooter's modification of the gun into one that is illegal to possess in the state. The lawsuit seeks to stop Mean Arms from doing business in New York and to require the company to pay restitution, damages, and civil penalties.
