Court leaves New York gunmaker liability framework intact
The Supreme Court declined to hear challenges to New York’s 2021 law that lets gunmakers be sued under state law and to sidestep the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, leaving the statute in place and potentially open to further legal challenges; Glock, Smith & Wesson, and the NSSF argued it would nullify PLCAA, while New York officials defended the measure and lower courts had ruled against the manufacturers.
