eBay agrees to $56 million settlement over harassment campaign
eBay and former executives will pay about $56 million to settle a civil lawsuit over a harassment campaign against Ina and David Steiner after they criticized the company on their blog; the deal includes $48.7 million to the couple, $6 million to charities, and $1 million from ex-CEO Devin Wenig to a free-speech charity, following a 2020 criminal case in which seven employees were sentenced and in which eBay pleaded guilty in 2023; the harassment reportedly included live cockroaches, a pig’s head mask, a funeral wreath and other intimidation.
