Nurse Practitioners Lead U.S. Jobs Growth Through 2035 as AI and Renewables Rise
The BLS projects 2025–2035 fastest-growing U.S. jobs will be in healthcare, led by nurse practitioners (greatest percentage growth) with healthcare managers adding the most positions in raw numbers. Other high-growth areas include data scientists and computer/information research scientists (both with very high AI exposure) and renewable-energy roles like solar PV installers and wind turbine service technicians, though those have smaller total gains. Overall employment is expected to rise about 3.5% to 176.2 million by 2035, driven by aging demographics and rising chronic illness, while aging also reduces labor force participation. Retail and federal government are expected to decline, but opportunities will persist across sectors.
