Henefer Evacuated as Rocky Canyon Fire Surges Toward Utah Town
Henefer is under evacuation orders as the Rocky Canyon Fire grows to about 15,500 acres and remains 0% contained, threatening homes, livestock and the I-80/I-84 corridor. A shelter is being set up in Coalville and a community meeting is planned at North Summit High School. FEMA has approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant to cover up to 75% of eligible firefighting costs as Utah faces a costly wildfire year with more than 800 fires statewide and roughly 800 personnel deployed to this blaze. About 150 structures have been threatened, with no reported losses at this time.
