HFPA labels Golden Globes sale a sham to forge a media monopoly
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association filed an antitrust suit seeking at least $150 million against Jay Penske, Penske Media, Todd Boehly and the Golden Globe Foundation, alleging the 2023 sale of the Golden Globes was a fraud-tainted sham designed to devalue the organization and enable a pay-to-play monopoly over Hollywood trades, FYC advertising, and awards; the suit describes the formation of a for‑profit Golden Globes LLC under Eldridge and alleged improper use of charitable assets, while Penske Media disputes the claims.
