Paul McCartney's original 1961 electric Höfner bass, estimated to be worth $12.6 million, was found and returned to him after being missing for over 50 years. The search was aided by a journalist and Höfner executive, and the instrument, played on The Beatles' first two records, was authenticated and returned to McCartney in December. The bass had been stolen and passed through several hands before being inherited by a family who eventually returned it to McCartney.
