Powell used some of the settlement money to purchase a gun and car used in the murders. He is accused of targeting sleeping homeless men and committing a home invasion robbery that resulted in a victim's death. Powell has a prior felony conviction and was not legally allowed to own or purchase a firearm. He now faces charges including four counts of murder, robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
