Central Park tragedy renews push to retire horse-drawn carriage rides
An 18-year-old tourist in New York City's Central Park died after the horse-drawn carriage he rode bolted when the driver briefly stepped away to take a photo, causing him to be thrown and later die in hospital. Three other passengers were not treated. The incident has intensified calls to end or regulate horse-drawn carriages, with officials backing Ryder's Law to phase out the rides over two years.
