Hundreds of dog remains uncovered at Humboldt rescue as investigation widens
During a second search of Miranda's Rescue in Humboldt County, investigators recovered 117 intact dogs, 21 skulls and hundreds of bones, with many animals showing gunshot wounds. Ground-penetrating radar and forensic analysis are underway as authorities probe potential animal cruelty, fraud and nonprofit-law violations. The rescue reportedly received about 900 dogs since January 2025, but adoption records exist for only around 100, leaving hundreds unaccounted for; no charges have been filed yet as the case continues.
