Nuuk Restores Power After Storm-Damaged Transmission Cable
Greenland's Nuuk restored electricity and heating early Sunday after a winter storm damaged a transmission cable, causing a city-wide outage overnight. Power came back around 4:30 a.m. local time, with outages common when harsh weather damages the cable spanning two fjords; three days earlier the government updated crisis-preparedness guidance including five days of water and food.
