UN Reports Over 1,000 Civilian Deaths in Taliban Attacks Since Afghanistan Takeover
A new UN report has documented over 1,000 civilian deaths in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover in August 2021, with three-quarters of the attacks being carried out with improvised explosive devices in populated areas. The report expressed concern about the lethality of suicide attacks and the drop in donor funding for vital services, making it harder for victims to access essential medical, financial, and psychosocial support. The Taliban-led government was held responsible for the safety of Afghans and urged to halt attacks.
