False Reports of Shootings at Multiple Illinois Schools Spark Police Response
Three northern Illinois schools, including Rockford East High School, received false shooting threats on Wednesday morning. The schools were put on lockdown and police responded to the scene. The threats were determined to be hoaxes and part of a nationwide trend. No injuries were reported, but a police officer responding to the scene was involved in a traffic crash. Illinois State Police report that 21 schools in 19 counties across the state received similar calls.
