Miyamoto credits negative reviews for success of Super Mario Bros. movie.
Despite negative reviews from critics, the new Super Mario Bros. Movie has brought in over $375 million globally in its first five days in theaters and is expected to cross a billion dollars at the box office soon. Shigeru Miyamoto, Mario's creator, says those poor reviews actually helped the film become so successful. He also revealed that he has become a bit of a TV critic himself over the last decade, watching a lot of TV morning drama shows in Japan and providing various critiques.
