Arkansas Clinches 22nd NCAA Indoor Title as Sahlman Triumphs in 3000 and Sprints Rewrite Records
Arkansas surged to its 22nd NCAA indoor title on its home Tyson Track as Colin Sahlman was declared the 3000m champion after Habtom Samuel was DQ’d for late contact; the meet also saw sprint records fall, with Kayinsola Ajayi tying the 60m NCAA record (6.45), Ja’Kobe Tharp breaking Grant Holloway’s 60m hurdles mark (7.32), and Garrett Kaalund becoming the first collegian under 20 in the 200m (19.95). BYU’s Carter Cutting won the mile in 3:58.94, and Arkansas’ Rivaldo Marshall and Tyrice Taylor went 1-2 in the 800, fueling a 73.5-point day that helped seal the Razorbacks’ 22nd title. Sahlman’s season has already included breaking a 37-year NCAA indoor 800 record.
