Micron's Strong Forecast Signals Easing Glut and Promising AI Chip Outlook
Micron Technology Inc. has provided a positive forecast for the current period, suggesting that the industry glut is easing, despite ongoing challenges in China. The company expects sales of up to $4.1 billion in the fiscal fourth quarter, surpassing analyst estimates. However, Micron's recovery is being hindered by recent actions in China, where the government has deemed its products a security risk. While customers have worked through inventory stockpiles, Micron does not anticipate a rapid return to growth in 2023 due to declining PC shipments and contraction in the smartphone industry. Additionally, the company is grappling with geopolitical tensions between China and the US, with about half of its sales tied to China potentially being affected by a probe.
