"Cisco's Acquisition of Isovalent: Revolutionizing Cloud-Native Networking and Security"
Cisco is set to acquire Isovalent, a cloud-native security and networking startup, in a move that aligns with the company's core networking and security strategy. Isovalent has developed eBPF, an open-source technology that provides deep insight into the operating system layer, and Cilium, another open-source project that offers visibility into cloud-native applications. The acquisition will enable Cisco to provide enhanced visibility and security for cloud environments. Cilium is already widely used by major enterprises and is the default connectivity and security component for Google Kubernetes Engine, Google Anthos, and Amazon EKS Anywhere. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of next year.
