Fatal Consequences: Palestinian Shot in Israeli Raid Succumbs to Injuries
Ezzedin Kanan, a 20-year-old Palestinian, has died a month after being shot in the head during an Israeli army raid in the occupied West Bank. The raid, which lasted two days and resulted in 14 deaths, involved air attacks, ground troops, and bulldozers. The Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed Kanan as one of their fighters and vowed to avenge his death. The violence in the West Bank has escalated, with over 170 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire since the start of 2023. Palestinians attribute the violence to the long-standing illegal occupation, settlement construction, and settler violence. The lack of progress towards a political solution has created a dangerous vacuum filled by extremists on all sides, according to the UN Middle East envoy.
