Oldest Fighter Jet in Active Service
The oldest fighter jet still in operation as of 2025 is the North Korean Shenyang J-5, a variant of the Soviet MiG-17, which has been in service since 1956. North Korea continues to operate around 106 of these aircraft due to lack of alternatives, despite their outdated capabilities compared to modern fighters.
