Matt Suhey, Payton’s trusted teammate and guardian, dies
Former Chicago Bears fullback Matt Suhey, a lifelong friend to Walter Payton and godfather to Payton’s son Jarrett, has died. Suhey spent his entire 10-year NFL career with the Bears, was a productive receiver, and scored the first touchdown in Super Bowl XX; Jarrett Payton posted a tribute saying Suhey protected their family and was Payton’s closest friend.
