Jewish entertainers rally to defend Ruffalo amid merger dispute
More than 180 Jewish artists signed a letter defending Mark Ruffalo after Paramount accused him of antisemitic tropes linked to his opposition to the Warner Bros. Discovery–Paramount merger. The signees, including Abbi Jacobson, Ilana Glazer, Joel Coen, and Tony Kushner, argued that critiquing the merger or related Israeli-tech ties is not antisemitic and condemned smear campaigns that conflate political commentary with Jewish identity. Ruffalo denied antisemitism, while supporters noted the broader debate over Hollywood, Gaza, and corporate power. A group called The Brigade had previously criticized him, underscoring the ongoing backlash surrounding the merger controversy.
