UPenn Megadonor Demands Leadership Change and Threatens Funding Withdrawal
University of Pennsylvania donor Jon Huntsman Jr., who has donated tens of millions of dollars to the school, threatened to stop funding unless the university cuts ties with its current leadership, particularly President Liz Magill. Huntsman criticized Magill's response to antisemitism on campus and her congressional testimony, which has sparked outrage. The university's Board of Trustees has also called for Magill's resignation, and another major donor, Ross Stevens, is seeking to claw back his $100 million donation. Huntsman had already informed Magill that his charity, the Huntsman Foundation, would stop future donations due to the university's perceived silence on Hamas' attacks against Israel.
