Genius in the Shadows: The Julia Set Scrambles Brilliance with a Flawed Formula
TIFF 2026 review of The Julia Set centers on Julia Fischer, a brilliant freshman played by Chase Infiniti, who becomes entangled with a dangerous, red-flag suitor named Pascal. The film blends math-competition ambitions with a fraught romance, delivering sharp moments and strong performances while frequently feeling uneven in tone and hard to invest in due to Julia’s distance. Premiered at TIFF and is seeking U.S. distribution; the reviewer gives it a Grade C.
