Trump Condemns Former Attorney’s $50M Contract with Pardoned Banker’s Family
President Donald Trump publicly criticized his former attorney, Alina Habba Mildon, for signing a $50 million contract with the family of Venezuelan banker Julio Herrera Velutini while serving as a senior adviser at the Department of Justice. The contract, which included a $10 million annual salary, was signed in October 2025, shortly before Mildon began working for the family’s company, Concord Partners, in January 2026. Trump pardoned Herrera on January 15, 2026, two weeks after Mildon started her new role. Mildon denies any connection between her employment and the pardon, stating she never discussed the pardon with the White House or Justice Department. Trump called the arrangement 'obnoxious and outrageous' and suggested Mildon should donate part of the money to his presidential library.
