Union chief praises Seattle officers' swift response to Bite of Seattle shooting
After the Bite of Seattle mass shooting, SPOG President Kent Loux defended officers’ rapid actions, praising their rushing toward the gunfire and their first-aid/triage training that helped victims and helped detain a suspect. The city faced scrutiny over delayed public updates, with questions about who directed communications. A 15-year-old was arrested and investigators say another shooter may remain at large; two handguns were recovered (a third found later). Loux cited state laws restricting questioning of juvenile suspects without an attorney and urged changes to those laws.
