Rise in subway violence: Woman shoved into moving train suffers severe injuries
Kamal Samrade, 39, has been charged with attempted murder and assault after shoving Emine Ozsoy, 35, into a moving subway car leaving her with a broken neck and spine. Ozsoy is in critical condition and may not walk again. Samrade was caught smiling as he was led out of the NYPD Transit Bureau in Manhattan. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with Ozsoy's medical expenses. Subway crime in NYC has decreased by 8.1% in 2023, but there have been three subway pushings to tracks so far this year.
