Family fury as Kohberger seeks to withdraw Idaho murder plea
Bryan Kohberger has told the New York Times he intends to withdraw his guilty plea in the November 2022 Idaho four-murders case, saying it rested on false promises. He was previously sentenced to four consecutive life terms after pleading guilty to avoid the death penalty. Jurors were not involved in the plea, and his move is seen by his victims’ families, notably Kaylee Goncalves’ mother, as narcissistic and an attempt to gain attention at the victims’ expense. Legal experts say overturning a voluntary plea is difficult, and the effort is unlikely to succeed, with prosecutors already prepared to uphold justice.
