
Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom Mourns as King Oyo Dies at 34
King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who became Tooro Kingdom’s ruler at age 3 and was once listed as the world’s youngest reigning traditional monarch, has died at 34. The Tooro kingdom’s prime minister confirmed the death, with a heir to be announced in keeping with local customs. He had reigned since 1995 (coronation in 2010) and was known for youth empowerment, education, climate conservation and health advocacy; the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
