Olympic Gold Medalist Klete Keller Sentenced for Capitol Riot Involvement
Former Olympic swimmer Klete Keller has been sentenced to 36 months of probation and six months of home detention for his involvement in the Capitol riot. Keller pleaded guilty to obstructing an official proceeding and will have to pay fines, do community service, and speak to young adults about his mistakes. The judge noted Keller's remorse and desire to make amends, but federal prosecutors had sought a prison sentence. Keller, a two-time gold medalist, apologized for his actions and expressed shame and embarrassment in a letter to the judge. Over 1,200 people have been charged in connection with the January 6th riot.
