Lod Airport attacker Kozo Okamoto dies in Beirut at 78
Kozo Okamoto, a member of the Japanese Red Army who helped carry out the 1972 Lod Airport attack in Tel Aviv for the PFLP, has died in Beirut aged 78. He served 13 years in an Israeli prison before a 1985 prisoner exchange, later seeking asylum in Lebanon after converting to Islam and maintaining ties with the PFLP, which praised him as a comrade in the Palestinian cause.
