Turkish military actions against Iraqi Kurds spark protests and condemnation.
Turkey has accused the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), the second largest political party in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, of being under the "full control" of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is waging an armed insurgency against the Turkish state. The accusation comes after a drone strike in Sulaimaniyah, Iraq, targeted a convoy carrying Mazlum Kobane, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who survived the attack. Turkey has been carrying out targeted assassinations of PKK and SDF figures using killer drones in Iraqi Kurdistan and Syria in recent years.
