Carbon Monoxide Leak at Rochester Hotel Sends 4 to Hospital, Including Child
Four people, including a child, were hospitalized after a carbon monoxide leak at La Quinta Inn and Suites in Rochester. The victims had symptoms related to acute carbon monoxide poisoning. Fire crews arrived to find elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the hotel's pool area and secured gas utilities to prevent further leaks. Minnesota Energy Resources was called in to locate the source of the leak. Residents were reminded to have working carbon monoxide detectors as the gas is odorless and colorless. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headache, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion.
