GM recalls over 700k vehicles for car seat safety issue.
General Motors is recalling over 660,000 SUVs, including certain models of Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, due to a potential safety issue involving car seats. The rear-seat LATCH anchorage bars used to secure car seats may have "excessive powder coating" that would prevent them from being installed. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is advising owners of impacted vehicles to temporarily use the car's rear seat belts to install car seats until the anchorage bars are fixed. GM notes there have been no accidents, injuries or fatalities related to the LATCH issue in the affected vehicles.
