OmniSearch rethinks Windows 11 file discovery with near-instant, local indexing
Sponsored Windows Central reviews OmniSearch, a fast, open‑source local file search tool for Windows 11 that indexes NTFS metadata via the USN Journal and the MFT to deliver near‑instant results across drives. It blends quick search with inline previews, duplicate finding, and built‑in file actions, all while keeping data on‑device. Features include content search syntax, filters by extension/size/date, a global hotkey, and a configurable interface; installation is straightforward (MSI/EXE or Microsoft Store). It’s a strong all‑in‑one alternative to Windows Search, though there’s a learning curve and it doesn’t yet unify app‑level search (e.g., Outlook/Teams).
