NAIA Upstart Louisiana Christian Breaks D-I Barrier by Upsetting Northwestern State
Louisiana Christian University, an NAIA program, beat NCAA Division I Northwestern State 42-37 at Harry Turpin Stadium, marking the first NAIA victory over a D-I opponent. After NSU led 27-13, LCU answered with Datlan Cunningham’s 37-yard TD run, a Demons pick-six, and two more scores to take a 42-30 edge before NSU closed to 42-37; LCU recovered NSU’s onside kick and ran out the clock to seal the historic win.
