Pirates land Camilo Doval from Yankees in cash-inclusive swap for two prospects
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired right-handed reliever Camilo Doval from the New York Yankees for two minor-league prospects, catcher Omar Alfonzo and outfielder Luis Cruz, plus about $1 million in cash. Hunter Stratton was designated for assignment to make roster space. Doval, 29, has a 2026 salary of $6.1 million and is arbitration-eligible in 2027 before hitting free agency in 2028; this season he has a 4.54 ERA over 44 appearances with 39 strikeouts, and he brings extensive high-leverage experience and 109 career saves to bolster Pittsburgh’s bullpen.
