Urquidy Comes Off Waivers to Bolster Phillies for Friday’s Mets Start
The Phillies claimed Jose Urquidy off waivers and plan to have him pitch Friday against the Mets as a bulk-innings option in a bullpen-style start, filling a rotation hole created by Jesús Luzardo’s shoulder injury; Urquidy, 31, isn’t postseason eligible but will eat innings, while Andrew Painter rests and Caleb Kilian was moved to the 60-day injured list to clear roster space.
