Tennessee police dog dies of heatstroke after being left without water for 36 hours
A German shepherd named Bart, a patrol dog for the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee, died of heatstroke after being left in an outdoor kennel without water for approximately 36 hours during a heatwave. The dog's handler resigned after being placed on administrative leave, and criminal and administrative investigations have been launched. A veterinary necropsy confirmed severe dehydration as the cause of death, with temperatures reaching 101F (38.3C).
