London City Lionesses Impress in WSL Opener With United Win
London City Lionesses opened their Women's Super League season with a 2-1 win over Manchester United at Hayes Lane, showing they can gel with a star-filled lineup led by Alexia Putellas. Danielle van de Donk scored and Alanna Kennedy opened the scoring as City dominated the first half and pressed from the front; United improved after halftime but could not overturn the deficit, with Simi Awujo scoring late. Manager Eder Maestre emphasised building a coherent team, and the performance suggested London City can challenge this season.
