Mangiapane, 29, has 14 points in 52 games and has been a poor fit for the Oilers, posting a team-worst -17 with unfavorable five-on-five metrics; his no-move clause limited trade options. If he clears waivers, Edmonton could stash him in the minors to save about $1.15 million of his $3.6 million cap hit. Teams such as the Maple Leafs have been linked to Mangiapane, while other players on waivers include Guillaume Brisebois, Robby Fabbri, and Luke Kunin.
