FDNY firefighter dies trying to save daughter from drowning at Jersey Shore beach.

A 15-year veteran firefighter with the Fire Department of New York, Mark Batista, died while trying to save his daughter from drowning at Sylvania Avenue Beach in Avon, New Jersey. His daughter was successfully rescued and taken to the hospital. Batista was found submerged and brought to shore where lifesaving efforts began, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
