Cap Tilt Triggers Marmol Ejection as Cardinals Edge Rockies
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol was ejected by home-plate umpire Doug Eddings after arguing about rookie Hancel Rincon’s tilted cap during a 7-6 win over the Rockies. Rincon adjusted the cap when told, but Marmol contended with the umpire’s directive, calling it a power move; Eddings said it wasn’t a rule, only an unwritten directive. Rincon later had a rough sixth inning, allowing a triple, an inside-the-park homer and a single, after which Marmol was ejected following a pitch-clock violation call.
