Cardinals' Liberatore shines in debut, Carlson placed on IL.
The St. Louis Cardinals have added left-hander Matthew Liberatore to their active major-league roster and placed outfielder Dylan Carlson on the 10-day injured list due to a left ankle sprain. Liberatore will make his first start in the majors this season. The Cardinals also brought up outfielder Oscar Mercado from Triple-A Memphis to provide outfield depth.
