Mecca flashes first-ever emergency alert as Houthis escalate strikes
Saudi Arabia issued an emergency alert in Mecca for the first time amid intensified Houthi drone and missile attacks, urging residents to shelter indoors; warnings for Jeddah and Taif were later lifted as danger passed, per Civil Defense. The coalition vowed a firm response to protect Saudi sovereignty after attacks injuring civilians in several cities, while the Houthis claimed further offensives and gains along Yemen’s western coast, including the seizure of Greater and Lesser Hanish islands.
