Tesla Expands Global Presence with Megafactory in China
Tesla has officially launched its Megafactory project in China with a signing ceremony for land acquisition. The factory aims to produce about 10,000 Megapacks per year, helping Tesla break new records in energy storage deployment. Construction is set to start soon, with production expected to begin toward the end of the year. The new production hub will reduce logistical costs by shipping Megapack projects in the Asia-Pacific region from China instead of the US. CEO Elon Musk predicts that Tesla's energy storage business could become as big as its automotive business.
