
"Nanoscale Window: Ancient Architecture Inspires Futuristic Technique"
Researchers at KAUST have developed a new method for creating tailored nanoscale windows in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) inspired by an ancient architectural technique. By using a molecular version of an arch-forming template, the team was able to control the shape and size of the pore windows in MOFs. This technique has potential applications in gas separation and medical fields, with MOFs designed for gas storage, oxygen adsorption, and molecular mixture separation. The approach offers precise control over structure formation and enhances MOF performance, making it a promising strategy for creating customized MOFs for various applications.
