Glen Powell is set to star in "Chad Powers," a college football comedy series on Hulu, which he co-created with Michael Waldron. The show, based on an episode of ESPN+’s Eli’s Places, follows a disgraced college football quarterback who disguises himself and walks on to another school’s team. The series is produced by 20th Television, Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, ESPN, and Waldron’s Anomaly Pictures. Powell, known for his roles in "Anyone but You" and "Twisters," previously played a college athlete in Richard Linklater’s "Everybody Wants Some!!" and has other projects in the pipeline. Waldron, who created Starz’s wrestling drama "Heels" and wrote "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" for Marvel, co-wrote the pilot episode and will executive produce the series.
Hulu has ordered a half-hour comedy series called "Chad Powers" from Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, with Powell set to star and co-create the show. The series is based on the character Chad Powers, created by Eli Manning for his ESPN+ docuseries "Eli’s Places." The show follows a disgraced college quarterback who disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team. Manning, along with his brother Peyton Manning, will executive produce the series, which marks Powell's first writing venture. Waldron, known for creating "Loki" and writing for Marvel, is also attached to the project. This marks the second major streaming series to be based on a character created for a sports program, following the success of "Ted Lasso."
Michael Waldron, the writer and showrunner of Loki, has been chosen to write both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and the subsequent installment. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will produce the films, which are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 6 features. The release dates are set for May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, respectively. Waldron recently closed a multi-year deal with Marvel/20th Television and launched his production company, Anomaly Pictures.
Eric Martin, the head writer for season 2 of Loki, revealed that he had to rewrite a significant portion of season 1 after Michael Waldron left to work on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
